Translate documents and long text
Send a file or paste the text. It comes back in the languages you asked for, with the words that matter left alone.
- Fourteen languages
- You pay for speech, not silence
- No monthly fee
Who this is for
A parish bulletin that has to go out in three languages every week. Course notes for students who arrived this year. A contract somebody needs to read before signing something in a language they do not have. Anything long enough that translating it by hand is a day of work.
How it works
- 1
You upload the file — or paste the text, if that is easier.
- 2
We pull the text out, optionally stripping HTML and stray characters if you ask.
- 3
It is translated in pieces, in order, into every language you chose.
- 4
You download each language as plain text, ready to paste wherever it goes.
What you get
- txt, md, csv, docx, odt, pdf, doc and rtf accepted.
- Up to fourteen languages from one submission.
- An option to clean HTML and odd characters before translating.
- Long documents handled in order, so nothing arrives shuffled.
- Charged by character, so a short note costs almost nothing.
- Results kept for seven days in your account.
Worth knowing: 100,000 characters per job, around thirty-five pages. Layout is not preserved: what comes back is the text, not your document with its fonts and its columns. A PDF that is a scan has no text in it to extract — that needs the transcription service, not this one.
What it costs
40 € per million characters
About four euros for a hundred thousand characters. Extra languages add 35% each, because the source is read once and translated many times.

- Does it keep my formatting?
- No. You get the text back, not the document. Bold, columns and page breaks are not carried over — paste it into your own template.
- Can it read a scanned PDF?
- No. A scan is a picture of text and there is nothing to extract. If it is a recording of somebody reading it, transcription can help; a photograph of paper cannot.
- What does the cleaning option do?
- Strips HTML tags and the stray characters that come with copied web pages, so the translation is of your text and not of the markup around it.
- How long does it take?
- Minutes for anything normal. Text is far quicker than audio because there is nothing to listen to.
- Is my document kept?
- The file you sent is deleted when the job finishes. The translation stays in your account for seven days.
